Responsibilities
- Monitor Security Operations: Continuously monitor security alerts and events using SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel) to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities in real-time.
- Incident Response: Lead the investigation and remediation of security breaches, coordinating with IT teams to contain threats and restore system integrity.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability scans and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in network architecture and applications before malicious actors exploit them.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure organizational compliance with industry standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and HIPAA by maintaining accurate documentation and audit trails.
- Threat Intelligence: Analyze threat intelligence feeds to proactively defend against emerging cyber threats and zero-day exploits.
- User Access Control: Manage and review user permissions and access rights to ensure the Principle of Least Privilege is strictly enforced.
- Security Awareness: Collaborate with HR and training departments to develop and deliver cybersecurity awareness programs for employees.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field (or equivalent military/industry experience).
- Certifications: Active CISSP, Security+, CEH, or GSEC certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a SOC environment, network security, or IT security analysis.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint protection solutions (e.g., CrowdStrike, Defender).
- Scripting: Ability to write and troubleshoot scripts in Python or PowerShell for automation tasks.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Work Environment: Ability to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends, during critical incidents.
