As a Weekend Shift Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining our high-availability platforms, optimizing database performance, and deploying updates that keep our clients ahead of the curve. Join a culture that values technical excellence and offers competitive compensation.
Responsibilities
- System Maintenance & Deployment: Execute scheduled deployments, patch management, and infrastructure updates during weekend maintenance windows.
- Code Optimization: Analyze and refactor legacy code to improve performance, scalability, and security during quiet periods.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex software defects and system anomalies that arise outside of standard business hours.
- Database Management: Perform database backups, integrity checks, and optimization tasks on PostgreSQL and MySQL instances.
- Monitoring & Alerts: Oversee system health using tools like Grafana and ELK Stack to proactively identify potential issues.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the on-call team to document technical changes and hand over critical issues.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and SQL. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) is highly preferred.
- Shift Availability: Must be willing and able to work a consistent weekend schedule (e.g., Saturday & Sunday, or alternating weekends).
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and reporting.
