Responsibilities
- System Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance tasks, patches, and deployments for production environments to ensure 99.99% uptime.
- Critical Incident Resolution: Lead the triage and resolution of critical technical issues that arise during off-peak hours.
- Code Optimization: Review and refactor legacy code to improve efficiency, security, and scalability during quiet periods.
- Monitoring & Alerts: Proactively monitor system logs and dashboards to identify potential bottlenecks before they impact users.
- Documentation: Update technical documentation and runbooks to reflect changes made during weekend cycles.
- Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers and QA Engineers to prepare for upcoming sprint releases.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong preference for candidates with prior weekend support or on-call experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, Java, or Go. Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Cloud Experience: Experience with AWS or GCP (ECS, Lambda, RDS) is highly desirable.
- Availability: Must be willing and available to work weekends (Saturday & Sunday) and holidays as required.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and a proactive attitude.
