Responsibilities
- System Maintenance & Updates: Execute scheduled deployments, patch management, and system upgrades during the weekend shift to ensure business continuity.
- Critical Issue Resolution: Monitor system health and troubleshoot complex technical issues that arise outside of standard business hours.
- Code Optimization: Review and refactor legacy code to improve performance, security, and scalability for upcoming release cycles.
- Database Management: Perform backup operations, data integrity checks, and indexing strategies on our primary database clusters.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Product and QA teams during the week to ensure weekend tasks align with release roadmaps.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation for all maintenance procedures and architectural changes.
- On-Call Support: Provide occasional support coverage for critical incidents during the weekend.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years specifically focused on backend engineering or DevOps.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Technical Stack: Proficiency in Python, Java, or Go is required. Experience with AWS or Azure cloud services is highly preferred.
- Database Skills: Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Shift Availability: Must be willing and available to work a rotating weekend schedule (e.g., Friday to Sunday or Saturday to Monday).
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
