Responsibilities
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on client networks
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for threats
- Implement and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols
- Document security incidents and generate compliance reports for regulatory frameworks
- Collaborate with IT teams to patch vulnerabilities and optimize security controls
- Provide cybersecurity awareness training to non-technical staff
- Stay current with emerging threats and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- CompTIA Security+ or CEH certification required
- 2+ years of hands-on cybersecurity experience in network security or threat analysis
- Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) and vulnerability scanners
- Familiarity with NIST frameworks and compliance standards (HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in high-pressure situations
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple part-time assignments
- Valid Texas driver's license for occasional client site visits
